Words 02:41
Oh no, don't listen to The words you file away lock away the truth. You're choking on the things that you think you know With the words you file away. The words I've got they fail to serve At describing what I'm finding on this good Earth. The clicking and whistling only refer To the words you file away. I don't even want to worry With all of these feelings to hide. I find them so hard to swallow When I lock them away inside Oh, these words you file away. The colors in my mind are brighter than their names. All this chattering can't mean the same. A hazy, grey cloud that shrouds the world With the words you file away. I don't even trust my eyes Oh, and my ears are no good. All they do is lie to me, But they are all that I've got you see. Oh. All these words fail to serve me At describing the wonder I see. Cannot even tell each other Just how beautiful we seem. With the words we file away.

Habits 03:30
See with Beginner's Mind, Without all the habits brought by life. You will know the truth. Your way was just too cruel. Because the pain left in blasts the roots And spreads all around To poison you. (If you) take without giving back, the world will have nothing left to give. Where will we go When it all grows too cold? Habits can be hard to break If we don't know better But good habits can be formed again When we grow stronger When we grow greater Let the roots grow deep And spread all around To strengthen you. Habits can be hard to break If we don't know better But good habits can be formed again When we grow stronger When we grow greater I want to be stronger. I want to grow greater.

Come Down 04:01
Come down to see what there is to see I will sit and be Think there is no choice But there always is Come on down Hope you come down All around bright and sunny rays They shine here for you and for me 'Cause all there is to see Is just what you want to see So come on down Hope you come down Won't you come down? Hope you come down Won't you come on down? These lights don't fade They don't go away They mean so much to me On the ground smiling faces crowd They're tired of being told how to be Cause all you can spread is light Darkness ain't nothing at all Won't you come down? Hope you come down Oh, won't you come down? Hope you come down

Knotted 03:43
Hey, man! Look at you there. Mouth agape, but you're barely breathing. Watching shoes stroll by. None turn your way to see how you're doing. Don't they know we are knotted by the same thread? All these wheels roll by. Everyone's in their own little worlds. Can't see the glazed eyes. Don't care for the dark haired kind. They don't know we all burn hot as the brightest star. We are meant to gather all of these embers And give 'em breath to make them glow Until the whole world glows. Maybe then we'll know. "The force that through the green fuse drives the flower Drives my green age; that blasts the roots of trees Is my destroyer. And I am dumb to tell the crooked rose My youth is bent by the same wintry fever." -Dylan Thomas Don't expect them to get it. They're all trapped in their little heads. Can't see this life around them. Only what's in their little minds. They don't know we're the light shining through this darkness We slumber sharing this one big dream.

It's Enough 04:25
Despite what they say In all those childhood stories You fly through the day sky Not just light up the night You have that pull on us Even when we can't see The light that is not your own Shining through your lonely flight And how would we feel If you'd gone away? And where would the tides go Without you to give 'em their pace? And the air where you are Is not enough to fill our lungs But the world you give below Oh, it's enough It's enough Despite what they say In all those childhood stories

Dashed lines and miles signs Chase the Sun to get there Wiper streaks and oil leaks Burning n my eyes And it seems I get to where I go Where that is, Heaven only knows It only knows City streets they bother me When they lead me from you The Moon she seems to laugh at me For looking to the sky And it seems I get to where I go Where That is, Heaven only knows I don't know where I'm going to Keep my mind bathed in light Once that darkness does fall I don't mind this long night Once I've seen your smile And it seems I get to where I go Where that is, Heaven only knows I don't know where I'm going But I know my way will always lead me back to you.

You Can 04:14
Shrug your shoulders of these burdens And the weight you carried so long This land may hold answers All you need's around you. Yeah. And it's always been. You can. You can. You. You can. You can. You. You can. You can. You can. You can. Maybe we should forget their way. Stop punching clocks and working lives away. Oh, and let that debt just fade. All you need's around you. Yeah. And it's always been. You can. You can. You. You can. You can. You. You can. You can. You can. You can. Talk about empires, but it's really just the land With piled up stories of people done wrong. Stop worrying 'bout what others might think. Let it go. Won't you, let it go. Oh, let it go! You can. You can. You. You can. You can. You. You can. You can. You can. Go out into this world looking for beauty. Well, my child, that's just what you'll find. To be a jewel in their crown, they need your permission. The peace you've always wanted, yeah, Starts right here with you. You can.

Never get a chance to see it But, oh, it's so close can't help but feel Steely eyes watch for approach, oh. Cannot be open to surprise. Hide amongst the rocks and grass. No one knows where you're going to. Hide along the narrow paths. No one knows where you're going to. Run with the changing winds where, oh, The trees fall. Sun comes in. Seasons give way to more seasons, oh, But then so soon, your days end. Hide amongst the rocks and grass. No one knows where you're going to. Hide along the narrow paths. No one knows where you're going to. Cuz you hide. Hide amongst the rocks and grass, trees and shrubs, and narrow paths. No one knows where you're going to. Seasons give way to more seasons. Oh, it's so close.

Not Fair 04:40
It's better to let it out than to hold it in Or some rubbish that we like to say It's easier live without than to live within Or something we babble to keep darkness away But it's not fair What you did I don't want to run I really don't care to crawl To greet the silent ending It comes, it comes It comes to greet us all So don't look at these faded photographs Because they whisper stories of times long past And speak of people who have met their end And it's not fair Can you tell when it is? I don't want to run And I really can't bare to crawl To greet the silent ending It comes, it comes It comes, it comes It comes to greet us all To be alive To be alive Oh, I wish you'd chosen to To be alive

As I watch my Neighbor's gardens growing, I cast aside My judgement. For I've no clue of The quality of soil Given them To cultivate. Or the weeds and pests They've had to endure As they tend their plot. All I can give is love. That's all there is. There is nothing else. That's all there is. All I can give is love. There's nothing else. That's all there is. There's nothing else. As I listen To your troubles, I cast aside My advice For my path is Only my own. I've no view Of the one you tread. But I'll lend my ears And my shoulders For you are My friend. All I can give is love. That's all there is. There is nothing else. That's all there is. All I can give is love. There's nothing else. That's all there is. There's nothing else. That's all there is. That's all.

about

These songs are a weaving exploration through gratitude, determination, longing, brevity of life, gentle action, and love of Nature. Even when the subject matter gets a little darker, the end product is positive and hopeful.

This collection is very much about life. My life. We all journey through seasons, some more quickly than others, starting out fresh and new, confused but still becoming. We face beauty, chaos, longing, disappointment, growth, love, and loss. While this collection is me using a bass guitar and my voice to talk about my journey thus far, I hope you can still relate.

I built this album brick by brick here on Bandcamp starting back in 2012, I think. Everything wrapped up in May of 2015. Since things have changed in my little music world, I thought it would be fun to make an album right in front of the nice folks interested in watching. You know what? It very much was just that.

Thanks for hanging out and thanks for listening! Now get back to your own journey!
