"So Close (Seasons)" is about a cat that hangs around a house my wife and I used to rent. Although she is the neighbor's cat, she was almost always hiding in the shrubs or chasing after the wildlife in the yard. She watched my every move, but the closest I ever came to petting her was getting five feet away from her before she scurried off in complete terror. Every now and then I drive past the old place. She's usually hanging around.
This track was recorded, mixed, and mastered at The Blanket Fort. I used the green Jerzy Drozd Obsession Excellency IV Custom and my voice. The bass was tuned FACG and FADG (from low to high). The whole song is just layers of that bass and my voice. Thanks for taking a moment of your life to listen!
lyrics
Never get a chance to see it
But, oh, it's so close can't help but feel
Steely eyes watch for approach, oh.
Cannot be open to surprise.
Hide amongst the rocks and grass.
No one knows where you're going to.
Hide along the narrow paths.
No one knows where you're going to.
Run with the changing winds where, oh,
The trees fall. Sun comes in.
Seasons give way to more seasons, oh,
But then so soon, your days end.
Hide amongst the rocks and grass.
No one knows where you're going to.
Hide along the narrow paths.
No one knows where you're going to.
Cuz you hide.
Hide amongst the rocks and grass, trees and shrubs, and narrow paths. No one knows where you're going to.
Seasons give way to more seasons.
Oh, it's so close.
